Abstract
26-27 April 2004 Paper starts with an overview of the domain of knowledge management. Then looks at how knowledge management fits into the National Programme for IT. The preqrequisites for successful initiatives in knowledge management are highlighted. An overvieew is presented on the types of knowledge that needs to be managed in health and social care. Barriers to success are outlined, along with the steps required to implement a KM strategy.
