Title: Supporting group work in Scottish primary classrooms : improving the quality of collaborative dialogue
Additional information: This is a partner paper to Tolmie et al. (in press), and reports in detail on the manner in which the intervention programme described there produced cumulative improvements in group interaction, includingthose aspects of group work skills which are central to the enabling of conjoint cognitive and social impacts. The sample size, coupled with use of detailed in-class observations, make the work a rigorous in vivo demonstration of the key effects that collaborative group work programmes have on interaction if implemented in systematic fashion. [NB as second author, I was responsible for the bulk of the data analysis and the structure of its reporting, as well as for the design of the observational measures.]
